Pyregrass started out in 2008 as a school project. Me and my classmate Adam Politanski decided to write our exam's project on game design and participatory culture. The idea was to create a game prototype together with gamers, but we were also interested in storytelling ranging over various media, and so we came up with the ideas for the world Pyregrass.

Together with some friends we wrote a background story which takes place a couple of decades before the webcomic. The story in its entirety can be found at GVC's forum. (The forum is unfortunately in Swedish, and you have to register to access the story. It can be found here.)
